Curtis Becker (1932–2012)
by Austin American-StatesmanCurtis R. Becker, 78, of San Marcos, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos.
He was born to George Becker and Frieda (Schwartz) Becker in Thorndale, Texas on December 18, 1932. He married Bernice Domel on March 16, 1957 in Walburg, Texas.
After serving in the United States Navy he was employed by the Frito Lay Company in Austin, Texas; retiring in 1996 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Cross Lutheran Church where he was an active volunteer in various activities and was also an active part of the Comal Senior’s Center Meals on Wheels program. He enjoy many pastime hobbies such as gardening, yard work, videography, genealogy and most of all he loved spending his time with his wife and family.
He is survived by wife, Bernice Becker; sons, Jerry Lynn Becker and wife Sandra, Lonnie Becker and wife Cynthia Ann, and Duane Ray Becker and wife Stacy; daughter, Laurie Groppe and husband Gary; brothers, Erwin Becker, Roy Becker, and Gilbert Becker; sisters, Ruby Krause, Bernice Weise and Ila Jansky; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Boatright; and brother, James Becker. Public visitation will begin 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Zoeller Funeral Home and will continue until 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 12:30 p.m.,Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Cross Lutheran Church in New Braunfels with Reverend Don Fraker officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
